Premium TVs begin with outstanding new technology

I get this question quite frequently on the blog and on social media, “I want to buy a new TV; can you tell me which TV should I get?” My answer is to figure out your budget and space considerations for the room where it will be placed, then get the most future friendly TV with the largest screen that will fit in your home that you can afford. Future friendly means best technology available. And this year is a banner year for new technology in televisions.

I am planning on getting a new set for my home one day. I have a budget in mind and a TV size in mind (65 inch). I haven’t decided which brand to purchase yet because they are all so tempting! Each of the top manufactures has released new televisions with outstanding new technologies that make the colours more vibrant, details clearer, and the overall entertainment experience much better.

Do your research and plan for your next TV

Buying a television does require doing a bit of research. This contest will help you do that so you will know which future friendly Premium TV will be right for your home. There are three television prizes, one from each of the major TV manufacturers, Samsung, Sony, and LG, as shown here.

  40. I am most excited about Sony’s TRILUMINOS display technology. My favourite model is the Sony 98″ 8K UHD HDR LED Android Smart TV (XBR98Z9G). Bigger is better and 8K!

  42. All 3 manufacturers look to have stepped up their offerings for 2020. All 3 have their high resolution 4k and even 8k options, with high refresh rates – 120 or 240 for the Samsung – as well as smart tv functionality. Each has their own spin on the smart tv option. Sony has gone with android built in, LG with WebOS, and Samsung with their Tizen OS. All 3 would have great smart tv options, however I think for the most future proof – I’d lean towards Sony with their pure Android based system. All have excellent high resolutions, with their own excellent color and picture quality settings.

    I think one of the stand out options is really the Sony 98″ model (XBR98Z9G) – truly spectacular size and options (with a hefty price tag that comes along with it). If money was no object – this would be my favourite model, however for a more down to earth option – I’d look at the 85″ model (XBR85X950G) – 4K HDR, x-motion for 120 refresh to keep things smooth, x-wide for excellent viewing angles, as well as wifi/bluetooth and numerous hdmi inputs to ensure a great smart tv experience.
    I currently own a budget 65″ tv (non-smart tv with average color and viewing angles) and any of the 2020 models would blow my tv out of the water. With more time being spent at home these days, I’m sure tv sales will increase as many of us are looking for things to watch/consume and a high quality experience would be top of mind for many buyers in the market currently.
    In general – Sony typically has some of the best options and largest sizes – however are typically the highest in cost.
    Samsung is known for great panels and offers great value for their price tag.
    LG is known for nice panels also and sits in the middle of these 3 offering great options and sizes, but typically higher in cost than Samsung. I don’t necessarily believe LG is overpriced, however Samsung tends to be more aggressive with their pricing.

Thinking about footprint is a big deal when you have little space to work with on your wall, you really want something that just blends in.
