Star Wars toys keep getting better with each new movie. Two years ago, when “The Force Awakens” introduced the cute droid BB-8, Sphero introduced their incredibly accurate working version of the droid. Star Wars toys are an integral aspect of the experience: many of us grew up playing with them. So with a new movie arriving this year, Best Buy will help ensure this tradition continues by giving away almost $4000 worth of Star Wars toys in this contest! Star Wars toys are not just for kids

Star Wars toys were always the coolest thing around. When we were kids they were cool, and nothing has change: kids today still love them. Interestingly, adults still love them too. They are not just for collectors either. I’ve met many adults who either still have Star Wars toys from when they were a kid, or ones they’ve acquired more recently.

I have a shiny silver Millennium Falcon that I think is great. It sits next to my computer at Best Buy’s head office. I used to have this massive tie fighter (shown in the image on the right) at my desk too. Unfortunately, our office was recently rearranged and it had to be moved. If I was to choose one of the newest toys as a replacement it would definitely be the Propel Speeder Bike Drone shown in the image at the top.

    Because my son is droid crazy and loves to build things so this would be the perfect thing for him and I to do together.

Once upon a time in a not so far away galaxy (Central BC actually) a 7 year old girl snuck out of bed one night, found this crazy movie playing on TV and fell in love with Star Wars, and the sassy droid R2-D2 (who admittedly is probably going to be out-sassed by BB-8 in the next two films) and his neurotic companion C3PO . That disapproving shrill of his is now my ringtone 31 years later. The SPHERO STAR WARS R2-D2 APP-ENABLED DROID. Star Wars opened up a whole new world for me (not to mention my wallet years later). I’d love to have an R2-D2 around the house, especially if he interacted with the films while I binge!!

  5. UB TECH STORMTROOPER. Always wanted a stormtrooper costume but now that i can get my own stormtrooper robot to patrol that’s even better ! And it could chase rodents >_>. I always had a crush for Stormtroopers, they are so mysterious yet we see them everywhere.

  6. Well I’ve been a collector since 1977 and still have all my originals plus many more over to he years, and yes they are unboxed and played with, by me, and anyone else who wants to.
    I think for the new line up I’d most like to get the Little Bits Droid Inventor Kit, and this one not for me, but for the he knows do I tutor and work with. I use Star Wars as a teaching tool regularly and it always connects. I work for a new Learning Academy and we struggle to get new and engaging tools, toys and books for the kids.

    I have always wanted to build my own droids, as a kid i used to disassemble and glue together different pieces from different droid toys. I always wanted my own R2D2. This would be an amazing gift to give to my niece and we could build a droid together.

  15. My favourite would be the Sphero BB8 app-enabled droid! I grew up with r2d2 and c3p0 as my official childhood robot mascots and I’m loving BB8 as this generations Star Wars robot mascot! I have 2 little boys at home, 7 and 2, who are both head over heels in love with Star Wars now and I’d be so incredibly grateful and excited to share something like this with them and really spark their imaginations! 🙂

  18. LITTLEBITS STAR WARS DROID INVENTOR KIT. I have always been a R2-D2 fan(I know it may not be R2-d2 exaclty but I think it is). Plus I am a Software developer so this will be awesome if I could program this guy. I used to love building models as a kid and seeing this makes me want to buy this so I can re-live my childhood hobby’s.

  19. the Lenovo Jedi VR kit looks awesome. That was one of my favourite parts of the movie, when Luke was training with the flying sphere droid. that’s my choice for sure.

  20. I really like the app-enabled Droids because they look like a lot of fun. BUT the idea of building my own Droid is even better, so I was completely taken when I saw the littleBits Star Wars Droid Inventor Kit being demoed on Force Friday. It’s cute, functional and looks like it’d be a great DIY project.

  25. My favorite toy in these lists is the Lenovo Star Wars: Jedi Challenge AR toy. It’s my favorite because that’s the kind of toy that would’ve blown my mind as a kid. Not to say that the other toys in the lists aren’t mind blowingly cool to my inner kid. But the AR one is just the kind of thing that wasn’t really possible before now.

SO since I am the one writing this , we will go with The R2D2 droid because I love the classic Star Wars movies and for me, R2D2 represents that.   30. Tough decision between the SPHERO STAR WARS R2D2 APP ENABLED DROID and the LENOVO STAR WARS: JEDI CHALLENGES. I’m going to have to pick the latter of the two because I’ve always loved the Star Wars universe and getting to feel like I’m actually a part of it would be a dream come true! I’m a grown woman and I full-out cried meeting Chewbacca in Disney World this summer! Hahaha!

    Me and my future husband bonded over our love for Star Wars. We are in the middle of planning a STAR WARS themed wedding and this droid would be amazing to have BB-8 walk with me down the aisle and join our reception festivities. It would make for an amazing gift for my wedding <3

  32. It has to be the SPHERO STAR WARS R2-D2 APP-ENABLED DROID. I mean who doesn’t love R2-D2?? You have to love a droid with attitude 🙂 I’ve wanted an R2-D2 droid since I saw Star Wars for the first time when I was 9 years old! It would be awesome to put this under the tree for my husband and daughter for Christmas!

  34. I would love the spin master bb8 droid. Growing up I always loved star wars but I had no one in my family interested in it so I never got to experience the movies in theatres. With the new films I have gotten to see each one so far! Star Wars had always made me feel like an outcast growing up but you don’t give up on something you love just because someone says it’s “uncool”! Years ago during a parade I saw people dressed as star wars characters, I tracked them down using Facebook and these people have changed my life. It’s so nice having people that share common interests.

  48. SPHERO STAR WARS R2-D2 APP-ENABLED DROID is definitely my fav. I’ve always wanted my own R2 unit and this one that you can control and will react to the other droids as well as has his own personality while watching the star wars movies just looks like so much fun and something I could enjoy myself and with my son as I show him the star wars movies for the first time.

  49. My favourite toy from the contest is the Sphero Star Wars R2-D2 App-Enabled Droid (R201FCA) – White/Blue  ! R2-D2 is a key component to my childhood and albeit he didn’t ‘talk’ so to speak he always had iconic lines and parts in the Star Wars movies using just beeps and boops ! Star Wars is (and was) a huge part of my life growing up ! I have fond memories of my Dad taking my brothers and I to midnight releases while we were kids and then letting us sleeping in the following morning, going out to lunch and then to school for the second half of the day. I can’t wait to have my own children so that I can introduce them to the stellar world of Star Wars and I think having this toy would be a perfect way to do that !
