Smart home products can help us reduce our carbon footprint by promoting energy efficiency, integrating renewable energy sources, and reducing water waste. As individuals, we can all do our part to help reduce energy consumption, contribute to a more sustainable future, and protect the environment. One of the best places to start is in our homes. By upgrading our home’s energy efficiency, we can not only save money on our energy bills but also reduce our impact on the environment. This Earth Day, we’re excited to offer a giveaway that can help you achieve just that—with a Google Nest smart thermostat and Philips Hue LED light bulbs! Enter for a chance to win these innovative tech products and read more for tips and tricks that will help you make smarter choices.
Create a seamless and energy-efficient smart home experience
The Google Nest smart thermostat is the ultimate tool for home automation. It learns your schedule and temperature preferences and adjusts the temperature of your home accordingly. You can also control it remotely using the Nest app, so you can ensure your home is always at the perfect temperature, no matter where you are. Instead of an always-on thermostat, you have one that intelligently adjusts the temperature in your home, saving you money every day.
And when you pair the Google Nest smart thermostat with Philips Hue LED light bulbs, you can take your energy savings to the next level. These bulbs can be controlled with the Philips Hue app or with most voice assistants, allowing you to turn them on and off or change their brightness and colour conveniently from anywhere. Schedule the lights to automatically go on only when needed and off when not needed. And because they’re LED bulbs, they’re energy-efficient and long-lasting, saving you money on your electricity bills.
By using less energy, you’re reducing the amount of carbon emissions released into the atmosphere, which means you’re doing your part to combat climate change. Here are some more tips to help you make a positive impact:
- Upgrade to energy-efficient appliances
One of the easiest ways to reduce your energy consumption is by upgrading to energy-efficient appliances. Look for appliances with the ENERGY STAR label, which means they meet strict efficiency guidelines set by the Environmental Protection Agency. These appliances use less energy and can save you money on your energy bills over time. Some of the most common appliances to upgrade include refrigerators, washing machines, and dishwashers.
- Consider Refurbished Products
If you’re looking to upgrade your home’s appliances or electronics, consider purchasing refurbished products. Best Buy has a huge selection of pre-owned devices that have been inspected, repaired, and restored to their original condition. Not only are these products often more affordable than new ones, but they also help reduce electronic waste by giving products a second life.
- Use Recycling Programs
Recycling programs ensure that electronic waste is disposed of properly, reducing its impact on the environment. Best Buy’s recycling program is free for all and accepts a wide range of electronics, from cell phones to appliances.
- Take Advantage of Repair Services
Instead of throwing away broken appliances or electronics, consider repairing them. Repair services can help reduce electronic waste. Best Buy’s Geek Squad offers a variety of repair services, from fixing cracked smartphone screens to repairing washing machines.
- Consider Trade-In Programs
Trade-in programs allow you to receive credit towards new purchases in exchange for your old devices. Best Buy’s trade-in program accepts a wide range of electronics, including smartphones, tablets, and gaming consoles. Not only does this program help reduce electronic waste, but it also helps make new purchases more affordable.
I hope that these tips have inspired you. This Earth Day, take the first step towards changing your lifestyle, reducing your carbon footprint, and making your home smarter and more sustainable. I’d use home automation instead of Smart Home
Our Smart Thermostat has saved a lot by lowering the temperature at night and using Smart Away features.
I find smart light bulbs super duper easy to setup, thanks to the app!
Robotic Home is another term I’d use for a smart home!
I’ve got a Nest thermostat and it’s been so helpful with saving money on heating!
A Smart Thermostat would be perfect for our house. We like it cool at night so would be nice to have it set for that.
a nest smart thermostat will reduce my a/c and heating costs for sure
We don’t have any Smart Home devices yet. I’d like to try the thermostat though. I think it would really help moderate our heating/air conditioning costs.
A term I would use for “smart home” is “home automation”.
Smart light bulbs have saved us a lot of energy.
We do not own any smart home devices, but we are willing to try. I believe the Google Nest Thermostat would be easy to set up and would make a difference with our heating bill.
I don’t have all the fancy smart devices but I did need a new air conditioner last summer. It is my favorite smart device by far because it is wi-fi and energy saving. Before I would program my old air conditioner but it would still be on all day while I was away at work. With the new smart a.c. I can control it through the app and cool my place right before I get home. I noticed it has saved me on energy costs also.
Smart light bulbs are pretty easy to set up, with an app to control them
I think Smart Home would be what I would use
A smart thermostat is great for saving money.
Google is all that I have.
Smart light bulbs, it saves energy by the lights be turned on only when we tell it.
I would call it a Jetsons Home
Using LED light bulbs are a very simple quick reduction of energy consumption
The smart device that was the easiest to setup was the iRobot sweeper. It automatically creates a zone and goes back to it’s base station without supervision.
A smart home device I’ve used is the iRobot sweeper and mop. It helps keep my floor clean during the week. It also helps energy consumption by not having to leave the vacuum running while I move furniture.
The smart home products that are the easiest to set up are (explain what type of products and why)? Well as I already stated I think LED light bulbs are the most simple quick reduction of energy consumption and easy as well putting in a light bulb.
What is another term you would use for a “smart home”?
Future home sounds about right to me.
Favorite smart device has always been LED light bulbs they are the easiest and quickest way to reduce energy consumption.
Another term you would use for a “smart home” is a Futuristic Home!
