Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. There’s been many break-ins in our neighborhood. I’m confident that my house is safe, as I have a very large dog.

My detached garage at the back if the property however, is full of tools and fitness equipment. My main concern is definitely that! A camera would really put our minds at ease!

  2. After two break ins we could really use this on the front door and the side door which is sheltered from the road

  3. There have been a bunch of car break ins and garage thefts in our town. Last weekend 15 people in one area had their tires slashed. We really need this camera. Not feeling safe at all.

  4. I’d use this at the front door, unfortunately delivery guys just leave stuff on the doorstep instead of ringing the bell and one hears so much of packages being stolen these days.

  5. Have been dealing with a spate of break ins in my area. This security camera would help give my sense of security and safety back!

  6. I don’t have a garage and my car has been broken into 3 times in the back lane. That’s where I’d want to this!

  7. driveway. A regular occurrence is someone going down the street checking vehicles to see if someone forgot to lock up

  8. I would put a camera over my pool to ensure no one from outside my residence goes in the pool when Im not home or out back.

  9. My security concerns are in our backyard. We have a detached garage so I would love to feel more secure when walking into the house when it is dark.

  10. I live on an alleyway downtown and I’ve had the unfortunate even of people trying to get in our building via my ground level balcony It’s scary. I need this to feel more secure

  11. Crime rate in my city has grown exponentially due to increased drug activity. Lethbridge has recently been ranked #1 in North America for people using our Supervised Consumption Site. This in turn has caused B&E to go through the roof. Security cameras are starting to become a necessity. This would be a great start for protection
