Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. I have had a couple of bike stolen from my backyard and would love to have a camera covering it to see who keeps climbing the fence.

  2. Lately in our town druggies are stealing what ever they can from yards, looking in car windows. I would like the camera that can monitor outdoors while we are away travelling

  3. There has been a lot of theft in the neighbourhood lately. Nice to have an eye on the place when everyone is at work.

  4. There has been vandalism to both my vehicle and home in the past year out front of my house. I’m hoping a security camera would be a deterrent for these actions! Thanks.

  5. I am most concern about people posing as delivery people but have other intentions or people who steal packages on my doorstep.

  6. I would like to put a camera on my detached garage that is at the back of the lot and has been broken into before. The other camera I would put at the front door so that I could see how’s at my door before I open the door.

  7. We live on a very busy street but on one side it’s very dark and there’s lows of trees so the Defender camera would be perfect.

  8. If I won, I would address concerns around my driveway to keep an eye on my cars (lots of car break-ins lately in our area).

  9. I would like to keep an eye on the wildlife in my backyard. We recently saw either a coyote or a coywolf one morning but were unable to snap a photo before it was gone.

  10. My life would be much less stressful with a security system- I can say this because our home was broken into and I was sexually assaulted. Fortunately the person responsible was caught and has been incarcerated.
Unfortunately since then I no longer feel safe and secure in our own home. A security system would greatly help with my PTSD and put me at ease.

  11. A couple of times last winter I saw trackers in the snow running into our backyard, dog ad person. I assumed it was someone chasing their dog and laughed it off – but would love to have video to know for sure!

  12. We would need a camera to point to our door, as we have had people on our property at night, trying to get into our home and garage. Security comes with having a camera to see the actions, then call the police.

  13. We are seniors and we have had people trying to get into our shed, knock at our doors in the night, so we do not feel safe in our home anymore and are thinking of moving. Having this camera pointed at our doorway would make us feel so much secure.
