I have been in love with ottomans for over 15 years. My first set of new couches came with two ottomans that both open up and have quite a large storage area and since then I’ve gotten a couple more. One just for style and comfort and one for my sons room for style and storage.
Ottomans are not only beautiful center pieces to your room, but they also can act as an extra seating option for when you have guests over as well as be a great storage solution.
Ottomans for style
When I look at my living area I can’t imagine not having an ottoman. They seem to have replaced your typical coffee table in many homes. My living room ottoman is about syle, and functional in that it can work as extra seating for when I entertain. I went with the traditional style with tufted buttons but mixed it up fabric wise with a micro suede top and bonded leather base. I think having the micro suede top makes it more inviting as a seating area for guests.
I love this Plush Ottoman if you’re looking for something functional and contemporary. It has a cushioned top, will work well for an extra seat and is sleek with chrome legs. If you prefer a traditional style then something like this Fabric Storage Bench Ottoman might work for you. The button tufted top is complemented by the classy legs, and bonus, this one has storage too.
Ottomans for storage
I am forever looking for great storage alternatives. Plastic bins
are great for long term storage or for items like holiday decor, but it’s nice to have some stylish options that also add a design element to your room too.
If you have a fairly large living space a 3 piece ottoman set like this Ethan 3-Piece Storage Ottoman Set would be a great solution. I love that all three of the ottomans offer storage space. You can easily store your throw pillows and blankets and anything else you want to keep out of the way. When my kids were little I always stored some of their toys like cars and blocks in there and that way I didn’t have a living room full of toys all the time. It also made clean up a breeze too, just lift the lid and throw everything in. Perfect for a quick clean up when guests are coming over.
If you’re living area is a little cramped for space, there are some single storage style ottomans like this Bonded Leather Storage Ottoman too. This ottoman even has the extra bonus of a tray style top when you flip over the four individual tops. You have somewhere to rest your feet, store whatever you choose and a place to put your coffee with this ottoman. The rich brown is a nice neutral colour too to add into any decor.
Ottomans can really pull your living or family room together design wise, but what I love most about them is their versatility. They come in all shapes, sizes and fabrics and there is the perfect one out there for any room in your home.

I was brought up with a different idea of what an Ottoman is . I was always perplexed by how the term became so loosly used to describe what I refer to as a foot stool, is now an Ottoman.
Nothing better than a new place to hide more stuff.
