june_046.jpgWhat’s not to love about June? It’s the end of the school year, and despite the snow that covered parts of Canada over the long weekend, the beginning of really warm weather. Whether you’re getting ready for a low key summer schedule at work or you’re kicking off two months of fun with the kids, there’s a lot to look forward to this June.

There’s also a lot of great stuff hitting the shelves of Best Buy, so let’s dive right in and see what’s new this month.

merge-vr-headset.jpgMerge VR Headset

If you haven’t tried virtual reality yet, you’re going to want to take a look at the Merge VR Headset. Coming soon to the shelves of Best Buy, it’s a virtual reality headset that’s sculpted from soft foam so it fits comfortably on your face. It’s also durable, so you can easily take it with you wherever you go and never worry about breaking your headset.

Although playing games comes to mind when you think about virtual reality, there are a lot of different experiences you can have with a headset. Because it works with any 2 year old or newer iOS or Android phone, you can pair it and step straight into a music concert or take a walk on the moon. 10423155.jpgDyson V8 Stick Vacuum

Who doesn’t love Dyson? From vacuum cleaners to fans, they make well-designed products that always get the job done. The latest Dyson, the Dyson V8 Absolute cordless stick vacuum is another winner from the company, and this lightweight stick vacuum is going to save a lot of effort when cleaning the house.

Powered by a lithium-ion battery, you get 40 minutes of powerful suction before you have to re-charge. The V8 motor produces 20% more suction than the previous Dyson V6, and you can switch into max power mode for a 7 minute cleaning blast.

Imagine the cobwebs and corners you can clean with a cordless stick vacuum, not to mention the stairs where you don’t have to pull a canister along with you.

10385450.jpgJaybird X2 headphones

Wireless in-ear headphones are great for running, biking, walking, or as I most frequently use them, to while away the time when you’re painting your house. The JayBird X2 wireless in-ear headphones can keep up with any of these activities and more, and with noise isolation built in, you eliminate background noise and only hear your music.

Even better, you can take your calls with them without ever having to pull your phone out of your pocket, and they have SignalPlus to ensure you don’t drop that call when you take it.

Graham just reviewed a set of JayBird X2, and they’re getting great reviews on Bestbuy.ca, so take a look at his thoughts on these headphones and check them out.

10396136_3.jpgAugust HomeKit Enabled

I’m pretty sure I have the only smart farmhouse around here. Since we began renos a year ago I’ve slowly added smart touches like Nest Smoke Detectors, a Withings camera, Philips Hue smart bulbs, and Arlo weatherproof cameras for the yard. The only thing I was missing was a smart lock, and I am so excited to be setting up the August HomeKit enabled lock, doorbell cam, and keypad on my front door this weekend.

You can say goodbye to keys and crawling through the window when you get locked out when you have the HomeKit enabled August Smart Lock. It lets you open your door from your smartphone, see who’s opened your door, and even unlocks automatically as you approach.

I’m looking forward to the August smart lock, but the August Doorbell Cam is my favourite new August gadget. It tells you who’s at your front door before you even open it, works with the August Smart Lock to open your door, and the best part? You can find out who’s ringing your doorbell from wherever you are and actually talk to whoever is there.

Along with the Smart Lock and the August Doorbell is the August Smart Keypad. This handy little gadget mounts on your doorframe without wires or cables, and it lets you assign entry codes to people you want to let into your house.

I’ll have full reviews and videos of install and how they work over the next few weeks so be sure to watch for that.

10293437.jpgStock up on camping gear

May have been the official kick off of camping season, but June is when people really head out for long periods of time. That means you need to stock up on camping items to keep you comfortable for a week at the lake, the cabin, or somewhere off the grid, and I can’t imagine anything more comfortable than the World Famous Swivel Chair with speakers.

Imagine taking a swivel chair camping. How relaxing would that be? Besides giving you the opportunity to park it and aim yourself wherever you’d like, you also can listen to music via the integrated speakers. It comes without speakers if you don’t need music.
