If someone you love enjoys reading, then they’ll love the Kobo Libra 2. Even if you heard them say “I love the feel of a good book in my hands”, there is also room in their life for this eReader. It is the kind of gift people remember. How do I know? I receive this same model of eReader as a gift from my wife last month. Read on to learn why I think it’s a perfect gift then enter for a chance to win one to give to someone you love.

What gift do you have and use everyday

If you look back to the last few years, how many gifts that you received do you remember. I know this exercise was easier when I was younger, but the point is, some gifts are more memorable than others. The ones that are unique and that you use often will be sure to stand out. For example, my brother in law gave me an axe four years ago. That may sound strange, but the fact is our home is heated by a wood stove and the axe I received is really good at chopping wood—I use it all of the time.

An eReader is really good for reading books. Really good! I had one a long time ago that got stolen; before it disappeared, I used it all the time: in bed, in the bath, in the car while waiting for a child’s piano lessons to finish, etc. Yes it’s different from a book—mostly it’s better.

5 reasons why a Kobo eReader is better than a book

Books can be beautiful—works of art sometimes—but a Kobo is just better in many ways:

  1. It’s light: holding a Kobo in one hand for hours while you read is less taxing on your wrist than a book—especially if the book has hundreds of pages.
  2. It has a light built in: need I say more, at night your eyes will thank you for the adjustable brightness settings of a kobo reducing the strain.
  3. Adjustable font sizes: some books have impossibly tiny print; the Kobo enables you to choose the font size that suites your needs.
  4. Built-in dictionary: understand every word on the page; hold your finger on a word and the definition magically appears.
  5. Built-in library: how many books will you take with you as your travel (across town or across the country); as many as you want without adding any extra weight to your luggage.

Here are a few reasons why I believe the Kobo Libra 2 is a great valentines gift

Some people are harder to buy for than others; as such, I believe part of my job is to present a range of options to Best Buy customers to perhaps make gifting a bit easier. We’ve presented many of these on the blog in other articles; however, I do believe that a Kobo is a great gift idea for a loved one who reads books a lot or even occasionally. I have learned that I read more with a Kobo than without, I find things I want to read more easily thanks to the built in bookstore, I like that the prices of ebooks is so much lower than regular books, and I like that it fits in my jacket pocket. Your loved one will likely find many things to love about it too over time. Isn’t that kind of a perfect gift: one you really like when you get it, but increasingly love more and more as you use it? Best Buy has a range of Kobo devices too. But you can enter this contest now and have a chance to win the same model I fell in love with: the Libra 2.

  1. The feature of the Kobo Libre 2 that would impress my valentine the most is the Bluetooth technology. This feature would be great for his audio books, because we love to travel. My favorite from the valentine gift guide is the Fitbit Versa 2 40mm Smartwatch with Amazon Alexa & Heart Rate Tracking – Petal. A great way to track my heartrate on valentine’s day and all year round. 🙂

  2. Large screen and light to travel. What a wonderful connection to have the library of books to select without the bulk of carrying paper editions.

  3. I use the Kobo app on my very old IPad every day. I love the adjustable font feature – useful when you have trifocals. And the adjustable light feature so I can read in a variety of light levels.

  4. My wife would love the light weight! She has arthritis in her hands and wrists, and holding a real book for too long is very painful for her.

  5. The lightness of the device would probably impress them most. I’ve never handled it, but it’s probably lighter than it appears.

  6. My valentine would love having a whole library of books in one small, portable device. Imagine not having to lug around a book while travelling or sitting in waiting rooms!

  7. The ability to store many books so I don’t have a bunch laying around waiting to get read would be what my Valentine would appreciate.

  8. Hubby would love that it has a light built in so he could read in the evenings when he sits on the deck in the warmer months

  9. i know that my valentine would enjoy the Built-in library! not having to carry several heavy books when travelling would be a bonus in such a small light kobe reader!

  10. Well… my valentine and I would be tussling over this one. Who wouldn’t want an ereader with all of those features? And when you go on holiday, you don’t have to fill half your suitcase full of books just to ensure that you won’t run out of reading material!

  11. I feel they would like the ability to store a large library in one device and also my valentine would like the resolution screen.

    • My valentine would like the lightweight and the adjustable font size because it would allow her to read without her glass and read for longer given the lightweight.

  12. I think they would like the ability to store a large library in one small device. Thanks for the contest!

  13. I think they would like the 1264 x 1680 resolution screen ensuring a natural, print-like reading experience…easier on the eyes.

  14. I think he would really appreciate the built-in dictionary, because he enjoys and appreciates learning. Thank you for the chance.

  15. I forgot to comment on the Why part..So my full answer to the contest question is the feature best loved by my valentine would be the built in light so that he could read while travelling by air @ night.
