She was from Madrid, Spain and absolutely loved Real Madrid and therefore, Real Madrid’s Champions League Final win over Dortmund this past June 2024 was very meaningful and emotional for me. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was in the common room during my first year of college, watching the game with a bunch of people. When that cross came in and Ronaldo hung in the air for what felt like forever before smashing the ball into the back of the net, the entire room just went insane. People were literally jumping up and down, screaming. We couldn’t believe what we had just seen. I’ve rewatched that clip a thousand times, and it never gets old. And when the Juventus fans gave him a standing ovation, I knew I had just witnessed one of the greatest moments in football. It’s that kind of thing that makes you love the game even more.
