There is nothing I love more than an appliance that does double-duty. When I was asked to test two Breville Bluicers, I couldn’t wait to try them out. The Breville 3X Bluicer and Breville 3X Bluicer Pro are juicer/blender combos that will juice, blend, and ‘Bluice’.
Exactly what is Bluicing? When you Bluice with a Breville Bluicer, you extract juice from fruits and vegetables and send it right into the blender bucket. Once extracted, you can remove the juicer, attach the blender, and whip up a smoothie with your freshly extracted juice and other ingredients.
The juicer and the blender also work individually too, so you can just juice or just blend. It’s a great combo appliance if you’ve wanted a blender to make smoothies and a juicer to make juice. It’s compact, easy to use, and easy to clean.
Here’s what I thought of the Breville 3X Bluicer and Breville 3X Bluicer Pro.

The Breville 3X Bluicer and Breville 3X Bluicer Pro are countertop juicers and blenders that fit together or can be used apart.

What is the difference between Breville 3X Bluicer and 3X Bluicer Pro?

Testing Breville Bluicers
To test the Breville 3X Bluicer and Breville 3X Bluicer Pro I did everything from juice a bucket of apples to crush ice and make more than a few juice smoothies. Both Bluicers were up to every task, and I was impressed with a few key features on these machines.
Cold press juice leaves dry pulp behind
I’ve tested Breville juicers before and I’ve always been impressed with how well they extract juice from fruits and vegetables. I don’t juice often, but I know it’s important the juice stays cold during extraction so you don’t lose vitamins and minerals in the process. I also know it’s important the pulp left behind is almost dry, as that means your juicer extracted every ounce it could.
In both respects, the Breville Bluicers performed extremely well. I juiced 10 apples with the Breville 3X Pro and the juice was quite cold after extraction. I love the extra-wide chute. You don’t have to chop anything when you use a Bluicer. Just toss the entire apple inside and watch it go to work.
When I checked the pulp bucket the pulp was grainy and dry. The Breville 3X Bluicer performed the same way while extracting apples and carrots, and the pulp was so dry that squeezing it didn’t keep it together.
Both Bluicers are packaged with recipe cards and a guideline for what speed to juice your fruits and vegetables. If you’re new to juicing, these tips will really help.
Making Bluice with Breville Bluicers
The blender buckets on the Breville 3X Bluicer and Breville 3X Bluicer Pro fit neatly on the juicer spigot. If you are extracting juice into the blender bucket or glass and you’d like to seal the spigot you can use the included plug to stop the drip.
To test out how easy it was to Bluice, I made a smoothie in the Breville 3X Bluicer. I added spinach, strawberries, ice cubes, and honey to the blender bucket and sealed the lid. I turned on the juicer and juiced a few carrots to add to the smoothie. The carrot juice dripped into the blender bucket from the juicer, and when it was done I put the blender on the base and turned on the smoothie program. The program runs on its own so you don’t have to do anything other than tap it, and the smoothie was really delicious.
I like how, despite how powerful the Breville 3X Bluicer and Breville 3X Bluicer Pro are, they both run quietly. They are definitely quieter than other juicers I’ve tried, and the only time the blender was louder was when it was crushing ice.
To test out the Breville 3X Bluicer Pro I extracted apple juice into the bucket, added some ice, frozen mango, blackberries, spinach, and a little honey. I used the Green Smoothie button. Having two smoothie buttons is nice if you want a custom blend for your smoothies, and my kids actually really liked the taste. It was icy without being overly foamy.
Kinetix contoured blade and bowl system
Both blenders have Breville’s Kinetix contoured blade and bowl system. The way the blades are angled in the bottom of the blender bucket creates a vortex that spins liquid up the sides of the bucket. Watching it is a lot like watching an outdoor water feature, where the water is bubbling low and then suddenly shoots high.
Because of the way it spins your liquids, you can really see how it can crush everything inside of it. You won’t have to stop your blender to see what’s stuck. It utilizes its power and design to lift denser materials up and away from the bottom of the bucket.
Crushing ice with Breville Bluicers
For me, one of the most important tests for a blender is whether it can turn ice into snow. If it can’t you’ll have ice chunks in your drinks, and icy bits really take the smooth out of your smoothie.
Both the Breville 3X Bluicer Pro and Breville 3X Bluicer crush ice into powder. When you use the Ice Crush button the blender will get to work, and it takes under a minute to have a bucket of snow. I was very impressed. There were no ice chunks left behind.
Cleaning Breville 3X Bluicer and Breville 3X Bluicer Pro
I’ve had friends who have stopped using their juicers because of how difficult it was to clean them. I agree, digging pulp out of a mesh filter or scrapping out a pulp bucket isn’t fun. I’m happy to say that both the Breville 3X Bluicer and Breville 3X Bluicer Pro are very easy to clean.
The parts are dishwasher safe so you can just give them a rinse, pop them into the dishwasher, and wash them. You don’t have to use the dishwasher either; after I juiced apples and carrots I gave both Bluicers a good rinse in the sink and they came out clean.
There is a scrub brush included with the Bluicers. You can use that to scrub out any bits left in the filter or get to the bottom of the pulp bucket, but I didn’t have to do much other than run the brush over the inside and outside of the filter and rinse the excess out of the bucket and the blender.
I was happy to see the carrots didn’t leave an orange residue on the pulp bucket or the blender. I’ve had some plastic appliances that I’ve had to wipe the carrot residue off for fear of it staining, but everything rinses clean with the Breville Bluicers.
Breville Bluicers give you the best of all worlds
I’m not someone who wants to drink a glass of green juice every morning, but I still see the value in having a juicer in the house. You can use it to juice apples for apple cider or lemon and lime for a bucket of margaritas. The beauty of having a Breville Bluicer is that you can just juice it straight into a blender bucket. It takes a step out of the process, and it doesn’t hurt the blender is extremely powerful on its own.
If you want to make a batch of Sangria and add apple, pear, or peach, you can do that with the Bluicer. If you want to whip up a batch of fruit slush for the kids and sneak in a carrot, you can do that too. I added beets to a smoothie for my son and he had no clue. The juice was extracted so well he could only taste the strawberries and yogurt I added to the blender bucket.
Having a dual-purpose small appliance like the Breville 3X Bluicer and Breville 3X Bluicer Pro is a great way to save time, cleanup, and storage space. The Breville 3X Bluicer is a great choice if you’re an entry-level juicer and you’re fine having a few blending programs. You’ll want to choose the Breville 3X Bluicer Pro if you’re a fan of the sleek brushed stainless steel design and you’d like more control over your juicing and blending options.
You can find the Breville 3X Bluicer and Breville 3X Bluicer Pro on Best Buy right now.
I love the fact that when you want to crush ice, it take very little time and it actually makes the ice into powder instead of having a bunch of ice chips.
Breville 3X Bluicer Pro has two smoothie programs and it is quiet. I love home made smoothies. Would be a great addition to my kitchen.
