Apps are amazing on so many different levels. They keep you organized when you’re frantically sprinting through your day, they entertain you when you need some downtime, and they will even be your personal trainer when you want to get healthy or lose weight.

Personal fitness apps are where Garmin comes in, and although you may have only heard of Garmin for their GPS products, they’ve recently hit the sports market with a variety of fitness bands that track your exercise data via the Garmin Connect Mobile app.

I recently wrote about the Garmin vivofit fitness band that’s coming soon to Best Buy. The ‘always on’ band gets you up and off the couch by monitoring your activity and challenging you to go further every day. You can use your Garmin vivofit to check out your fitness progress throughout the day, but the band also works with the Garmin Connect website and the Garmin Connect Mobile app to easily store, analyze, and share all of your fitness activities.

All activities, all the time

Whether you get your exercise in the form of running, swimming, hiking, or biking, the Garmin vivofit will connect to Garmin Connect Mobile and sync all of your fitness activities onto your smartphone.

Track progress down to the smallest detail

Sometimes it can be hard to pinpoint exactly what works for you as far as losing weight or getting fit. That’s why the Garmin Connect Mobile app will show you maps of where you’ve walked, run, hiked or biked, what the temperature was like at that time, and even give you lap split data. With all of this information you can easily narrow down where you’re going right or where you need to improve.

The Garmin Connect Mobile app also provides ready-made reports so you can see how your lap pace has improved over the time you’ve been tracking, keep up with your personal mileage, and even show you how hard you’ve been working by comparing your average heart rate to your average personal pace.

An app that makes fitness a no-brainer

No time to figure out how long to exercise or when you can fit it all in? No problem – Garmin Connect Mobile takes care of that for you. Just choose your fitness level and targets and it will provide professional training plans to suit you. It will even fill your calendar with specific workouts created by experts in the fitness field.

Take it on the road

The beauty of the Garmin Connect website and the Garmin Connect Mobile app is how you can check out other user’s favourite runs, hikes, or other activities. No matter where you are in the world you can find courses created by other users and check out the most popular activity wherever you are. You can even rank your progress against others who have done the same activity.

Connect to new friends

Fitness buddies are everywhere on Garmin Connect Mobile, and you’ll find them ready to share their stats with you to help you stay on top of your game. You can also share your activities through the app by connecting it to Facebook and Twitter. If you don’t want to share your fitness info with anyone you can turn on the privacy lock and go solo.

Tracking your fitness is a simple, effective way to stay motivated and reach your personal health goals.

Whether you want to get fit or lose weight, just connect your Garmin vivofit to the Garmin Connect Mobile app and you’ll be inspired to reach for your new goals.
