Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction Launches on September 16

Today at Ubisoft Forward, Ubisoft announced that the next mainline installment in the Rainbow Six franchise, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction will launch on September 16, 2021 with full cross-play, cross-save and cross-progression on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Amazon Luna, Stadia and PC.

Three years ago, in the town of Truth and Consequences, a meteor crashed releasing an unknown parasite. A handful of operators from Rainbow Six Siege seemingly contained the initial outbreak. That is, until the Chimera parasite appeared in multiple sites across the U.S. and deadlier than ever. As a result, the Rainbow Exogenous Analysis & Containment Team (REACT) was formed.

Rainbow Six Extraction is a brand new tactical co-op PvE experience where players join the REACT Team and assemble a one to three-player squad to confront mysterious alien creatures. Players can choose from 18 Rainbow Six operators, each equipped with specialized REACT gear, weapons, gadgets and abilities to learn and master. After completing each objective, players must choose: extract and collect their rewards or push deeper to face tougher enemies and earn greater rewards in a chaotic and intense experience.

  1. Can everyone just dance already so that the Ubisoft team can take a well deserved year off from the franchise?

  2. I’m apparently out of the loop. Amazon Luna? After reading the comments I think I’ll have to check out this Mario + Rabbids on my new Switch.

  3. The Mario & Rabbids game was one of the most unexpectedly great games I’ve played on my Switch. I never even considered if they’d make another one, but I’ll grab that when it’s out. I always find that when Nintendo gets weird, Nintendo is at its best.

  4. It’s really cool that more companies are allowing their games to be crossplay. It has always been really frustrating when you have a console that your friend doesn’t, but you want to play the same game with each other. This really benefits companies because it entices player to keep playing their games; player populations will stay higher as they are not limited to one console. Hopefully this trend continues, spreading to other major studios.

I wonder if the success of Mario + Rabbids will encourage Nintendo to lend out their IPs to other companies. Historically, Nintendo keeps their cards close to their chest, but in situations like this, all they need to do is give other studios permission to use their characters and they will get new, interesting games for their console without needing to invest a ton of time from their own offices.

I am also really excited for Blood Dragon getting remastered. That game was awesome!

  5. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora looks amazing! I can hardly wait to try it.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope also looks cool. The original didn’t grab me, but I’m looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.

I’m also excited to see Rocksmith back with Rocksmith+. I signed up for the beta and really look forward to trying it out.

Thanks Jon, I’m excited to see what else E3 has planned for us this year.

  6. The gameplay in Rainbow Six Extraction looks pretty good. Doesn’t really bring anything entirely new to the genre for the most part, but I do like the co-op aspect of it.

I would play it even in single-player mode if I could.
