Nintendo Switch is the ultimate family gaming console. It has the flexibility to take anywhere your family goes, and the versatility to go from individual play to interactive or competitive play. Also, the selection of games continues to excite us with each new release. Their newest game, Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet comes out this month and Best Buy is giving away a copy of the double pack version of the game, a Nintendo prize pack, and a Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition Switch OLED, for one amazing ultimate Nintendo prize.
Do you have a favourite Nintendo memory?
Families have been enjoying Nintendo gaming for decades. My favourite Nintendo memory is from when my children were young playing Mario Kart with my father-in-law Dan. The fun started with selecting a driver, “Granpa, I want to be Bowser; you got to be him last time!” which to an outsider may have seemed confrontational but the atmosphere was total fun and laughs.
Pokemon too has been thrilling adults and children since 1996. What started as a very successful video game for the Game Boy quickly evolved into anime, trading cards, manga, and tons of related toys and other merchandise. Few on this planet have not experience Pokemon in one way or another. This contest will certainly create lasting memories for someone in Canada. The prize includes a Nintendo Switch console on which they will play countless games at home, at friends’ homes, and on road trips. One of those games will be the new Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet that’s also included in this prize. And the winner will also enjoy a collection of Nintendo Pokemon merchandise. It’s pretty much a perfect Pokemon prize!
Many people will be gifting Nintendo this season
You may be wondering what are the best games to give Nintendo Switch gamers this season. You might already have an opinion about it, or you may be interested in what games other players are recommending. We sent our writers to a Nintendo holiday showcase event to get some insights and you can read about their experiences on the blog. Also, scroll through the comments under that article. For the next two weeks, Canadians will be leaving their Nintendo Switch game recommendations under that article as one of the methods of entering this contest. Here are all of the ways you can enter this contest:
How to enter
Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in three different ways:
- In a comment below, tell us what your favourite Nintendo memory is, what game, was involved, and why this memory stands out for you.
- In a comment beneath the “Nintendo Holiday Showcase” article, tell us which Nintendo Switch game sold at Best Buy (include the model number) is your gift recommendation for Canadians this season.
- For up to two (2) additional entries, create a public post on a social media channel (one entry per channel!) telling your friends and followers which version “Pokemon Scarlet” or “Pokemon Violet” you’ll play first if you win this Nintendo Switch prize pack; include the hashtag #BestBuyNintendoSwitchContest, so we can find your post, and include one of the pictures showing on this article.
Then return here and tell us in a comment below on which channel you posted it and the name of your channel (since many people use pseudonyms) so that we can check and verify your entry. You can use any social media channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.), but the post must be public so we can verify it is there.
What you can win
At the end of this contest, we will randomly select one (1) winner to receive the Nintendo Switch Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Prize pack that includes the double game and the Nintendo Switch OLED Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition.
This contest runs from Nov 17th until Dec 5th.
Remember you can enter in three different way as discussed above. Nintendo is best played with friends and our contests are best enjoyed with you share with family and friends to increase that chances that either you or someone close to you wins a great prize.
Win a Nintendo Switch OLED with Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Rules and Regulations

My favourite Nintendo memory is getting the NES for my birthday when I was a kid. I had wanted it for a while, but didn’t think I was going to get it. But my uncle had gone to the States and he bought it for me. I was so excited and once we connected it, and played Super Mario Bros for the first time, I was hooked! I still have that NES system packed away in storage!

I have SO many good Nintendo memories! Seriously, countless ones! I guess I’ll start with the earliest, and likely best one. When I was 5, after begging my parents for ages, they got me a Nintendo for Christmas. The box was almost as big as I was. It was wrapped in blue wrapping paper, and they stuck it in the fireplace, where it barely fit! It took so much effort to get it out of there, and then I still had to unwrap it. I screamed and jumped up and down when I finally got the paper off and saw what it was – it is probably still one of the happiest days of my life to date. I played that system almost every day for YEARS. Even when I got later systems and games, I always went back. It came with Super Mario and Duck Hunt. I still go back to play Super Mario! What an bsolute classic! I’d love to finally have a Switch and bring some nostalgia into my adulthood!!!

My favourite Nintendo memory is playing Dragon Warrior and Solstice with my mom on the classic NES. She would help with the strategy and what to do next while I had the controller. We definitely bonded over these games for months when I was a little kid. I now discovered that Dragon Warrior was rebranded and re-released under Dragon Quest on the switch and I got my son into them and we play together like I used to with my mom.

My favourite Nintendo memory is when my son went and used his own money to buy extra controllers so that the we could all play Mario Kart together and despite the fact that I always lose it was such a kind gesture as another way for use to play a family game, that I happy to lose in a family race on any course.
Favourite memory is playing pac-man on gameboy colour because it was the first gaming console I owned.
My first game on nintendo is Battle tanks with my brother when we were kids
I used to play Megaman on my first nintendo and proceeded to buy all the megaman games

Family renting a Nintendo NES from a video store and playing Mario, was the first time ever playing a video game system.
My favourite nintendo memory is definitely playing pokemon stadium with my cousins. It was so cool to see the pokemon in 3D.
When I was a teenager, I had surgery and had to stay home for a week. We rented a Nintendo and I played the first Dragon Warrior game. First game I ever completed. Made recovering from surgery bearable.
When we first got our Nintendo, my children played in relays for the whole day and night. Such a good babysitter!

My favorite Nintendo memory is playing Golden eye with my best friend in his basement! However, Nintendo has brought me so much joy over the years.
Among all my time with Nintendo, my favorite memory has got to be N64’s Golden Eye 007 and Mario Kart 64, because playing with friends just feels better.

100% hands down was getting my gameboy when I was 10 or 11 and Warioland from my uncle. I didn’t often get cool gifts like that so its something I played ALL THE TIME! It was actually the only game I had for that gameboy. Beat it a ton of times.
Playing Mario with my grandson

My favorite Nintendo memory was back in the NES days. I had Dr. Mario and I used to play it with my parents. They do not speak English and they would call the game, “the pill game”. Now that I have kids, I look forward to playing Mario games with them.
