Kratos and his teenage son Atreus return in God of War Ragnarok. The game takes place three years after the events of God of War, where at the end of the game a mural depicted Kratos’ death. Fast forward a few years and God of War Ragnarok begins with Fimbulwinter, a great winter that spans three summers that is drawing to a close. This begins the prophesied Ragnarok.
As Kratos and Atreus, you journey to Nine Realms different realms in search of answers as Asgardian forces prepare for the prophesied battle that will end the entire world. Atreus, Kratos’ son, seeks knowledge to help him understand the prophecy of Loki and establish his role in Ragnarok. Consequently, Kratos, who still bears the knowledge of his past mistakes, wants to spare Atreus the bloody lessons he learned from his conflict with gods and keep his son safe.
God of War Ragnarök will take you to the previously unreachable areas as well as to new areas from locations featured in the last game. Be forewarned! The realms have grown harsher and a whole host of new creatures from across Norse mythology will test both Kratos and Atreus’ skills. Together, Kratos and Atreus have to make a choice about which path they will take. Whatever they choose will define the fate of all those living in the Nine Realms as Ragnarok approaches.
