Last month, wireless music player, Sonos created waves when they announced new hardware would be launching this year. Dubbed the Sonos Play:5, the new player is just as expected from the leading in smart sound for the home: it’s beautifully designed inside and out, user-friendly and packed with sensational Sonos sound that makes you think there’s more speakers than there really are in a room.

Here are five reasons why you should consider buying the new Sonos Play:5 and add it to your home, office or anywhere you want amazing sound:

1. Trueplay tuning

Sonos Play:5 comes stocked with the all-new Trueplay feature. With Trueplay, Sonos users can now easily tune their existing Sonos speakers to optimize sound no matter where the speaker is placed in a room. I saw this demo live via colleague, friend and Sonos PR representative, John Settino at his offices where I had the opportunity to partake in the set-up of a Sonos Play:1. Simply using the app off an iPad Mini, I slowly waved the tablet up and down while walking the demo room so the speaker could calibrate. The result: improved sound in less than a minute. This upgrade makes complete sense, given no room is the same to fill it with high-end audio – objects could get in the way, Sonos may be set-up on the floor, etc.

The Trueplay feature is available now for Sonos Play:1, 3 and 5 on iOS 7 and higher controllers.

2. Play:5 packs a punch

Built with six synchronized custom drivers, three mid-woofers and three tweeters, thePlay:5 sound quality makes you feel you are right there in the recording studio. Playing a mix of today’s hot tracks by Canadian artists like Drake and The Weeknd, songs like “Back to back” delivered rich and deep lows, and “Feel my face” produced crystal clear highs.

Physically, the Sonos engineers have done it again. The innovative design offers 60,000 individually-drilled holes in the grill alone. Additionally, new touch controls that allow users play, pause, adjust volume and change tracks.

3. You can orient it to play one of three ways20150925_152145_edited.jpg

For the first time in Sonos history, there are three ways you can position Sonos Play:5 horizontally as a sweet-sounding standalone speaker, or vertically, pending preferences of décor or space. Also, consider pairing Play:5 with with another to produce stereo sound with a focused and intense sweet spot after applying Trueplay tuning.

4. It works seamlessly with other Sonos smart speakers

In genuine Sonos style, the Play:5 connects with other Sonos smart speakers allowing users to enhance existing Sonos ‘eco-systems,’ or for new users to create their own. Sonos can serve as a single speaker in any room, providing studio-quality sound, or combine to serve as rear speakers in home theatre setups, such as the Sonos Playbar, Sonos Sub, or Sonos Play:1, 3 or 5.

5. Play:5 is the new Sonos flagship smart speaker

The Sonos Play:5 is the latest smart sound solution hitting the market this year. We all know with the release of a new product comes enhanced features. In addition to Trueplay, no doubt Sonos enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting the release of new hardware to grow their existing Sonos ecosystem.

Both Sonos’ Trueplay and Play:5 release later this month just in time for the holidays. At launch, Sonos Play:5 will be available in matte black and white.
