Sony has been a leader in home and personal audio for decades. I’ve been listening on Sony products for most of my life (I even owned a bright yellow Sony Sport Walkman years ago). My taste in music has changed (slightly) but Sony quality has not. However, the range of Sony audio products is huge; you may have trouble deciding which one to get for your home next!. Well, since September is Home Theatre Month at Best Buy, we think it’s a great time to give Canadians a chance to win some of the fantastic Sony audio products that may be on their wish-lists. We have two contests offering Sony Audio prizes in progress this month. In this contest, I have one combination prize of a Sony receiver and turntable. See below for the link to our other contests at Best Buy.
Which audio component is next on your wish-list
In life we all have to make choices. Some choices are harder than others. For example, you may have a hard time deciding which of the recent viral shark songs you like best: Baby Shark or Reggae Shark (I’m leaning toward Baby Shark myself; I can’t help but smile when I watch it!).
Think for a second about your home audio system and the components that it’s lacking. Which new audio component is first on your list? You may have a stack of records that you can’t play, so a turntable may be next. Alternatively, you may realize that a turntable will be useless without a great receiver and amplifier to carry the signal from the turntable to your speakers. Just like trying to decide which of the above videos you like best, it’s a dilemma!
Which Sony audio component do you need in your home
In his review of this receiver and turntable, Brad Moon discusses that someone just getting into vinyl or wanting to get an entry level player for his old LPs would be well served by the Sony PS-LX300USB turntable. It’s easy to setup and use, and has the added benefit of USB connectivity so you can connect it to a PC and convert your vinyl recordings to MP3. He also pointed out that pairing this turntable with Sony’s STR-DH190 receiver is a solid choice. This receiver comes with Bluetooth support so you can stream music from your phone through the receiver.
Now, if you had to choose, which one would you prefer to get first for your home: the turntable or the receiver. One lucky person will not have to worry—the person who wins this contest will get both!
HOW TO ENTER
Entering this contest is easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below this article, tell us which you would prefer for your home: the Sony turntable or the Sony receiver and why. If you want, you can also weigh in on the other tough choice discussed above: Reggae Shark or Baby Shark.
WHAT YOU CAN WIN
At the end of the contest we will select one winner to receive both Sony audio components: the Sony PS-LX300USB turntable and the Sony STR-DH190 receiver.
This contest will run from Sept 12th until Sept 25th.
Remember you can only enter once. However, you can tell your friends and family about this awesome contest. You could even strike a deal saying, “let’s split the prize and whoever wins gets first choice.” At the very least you can introduce them to those two shark videos above!

Sony turntable and baby shark
Sony Turntable and Baby Shark!
I would pick the receiver to pair with my current Audio Technica turntable.
I’d love to add a turntable to see if I want to expand into vinyl. I want to be able to hear the difference for myself. And then if I’m convinced, possibly upgrade to a higher end turntable down the road.
I had no idea that it’s best to have a receiver with a turntable so this was a valuable post. That’s what I want – a receiver.
I would choose the STR-DH190 receiver, Also I have to go with Baby Shark. I have to small kids and have been listening to the original for YEARS 😛
I would love the turntable! Thank you 🙂
I’d love that turntable, so I could play some of my father’s old records.
I have loads of old records that I’d like to convert to digital files.
I’d use that turntable to convert all my old vinyl.
I would like the Sony receiver.
I’d choose a receiver as it provides the versatility of streaming music from different types of devices.
the receiver would be great
The receiver would be great as we already have a turntable! Reggae shark, cool mon!
I would choose the receiver so I can stream all of the music on my phone.
I would prefer a new receiver that comes with Bluetooth support.
Sony Turntable, I would gift it to my brother for his Bday.
Sony turntable
The SONY turntable for sure!! I have a 13 year old daughter that’s in love with vinyl and this would get a lot of use in our house.
Sony receiver, because my current receiver is too old and doesn’t have HDMI ports.
I would love the receiver to update my system.
I would choose the Sony turntable
The turntable because we don’t have one anymore.
Sony turntable
Turntable, to connect to my pc
I would prefer the Sony receiver so I can update my sound system.
would love to win the receiver as mine quit after 20 years
I’d give my old turntable to my 70 year old friend who can’t listen to her collection now.
Reggae Shark, mon!
I would replace my current- thrift store- turntable and give it to my friend, she’s 70 and can’t listen to her collection because her player broke years ago.
Reggae Shark, for the win!
Sony turntable
The turntable definitely. I strangely have a growing collection of video game and geeky TV show soundtracks on vinyl and I’d love to actually have something that can play them.
the reciever. sony makes great stuff.
im more in cds than records
I would choose the turntable, as I have been collecting vintage vinyls for a few years but as a student have not been able to afford a turntable to play them. I’ve got a copy of “aretha’s gold” that’s practically begging to be played, aha!
Definitely the Sony Receiver, I already have a turntable.
The Receiver would be awesome to win
Would be cool to teach my 8 and 10 year olds what a turntable is!
The Sony Turntable would be great for me to play my Vinyl records. but either would be great.
I’ll say receiver as it suits my needs better thanks
Would love to win the Sony turntable so we can start playing records we got as gifts!
And obviously baby shark!
I would sincerely be grateful for either of the Sony audio components, receiver or the turntable. Since I don’t have many vinyl records; my preference is the audio receiver, then I could incorporate the Bluetooth connectivity feature with my other Bluetooth devices.
Turntable…. really feel like i’ve been missing out! Have never owned one and feel like i truly need the authentic experience!!
They would both be fabulous to win and making me choose is just being mean. I have found boxes of records to play and to paraphrase Forrest Gump – “Life is like a box of records; you never know what you’ll get.” But, you need the receiver for, well, receiving! Okay, record player it’ll be so I can spin some tunes!
The receiver would be perfect for my new home theatre set up! I’m the uncle of many nieces and nephews, so its Baby Shark… no contest!
I’d love the receiver
I would choose the Sony turntable to replace my 60’s era turntable console. And to bring the sound quality of my record collection into this era!
The Sony turntable, I think I have a receiver that works already but it would be great to win both!
Turntable for sure. I have been in need of an upgrade for a long time!
Oh!! I forgot to vote for reggae shark
We would get the most use out of the song reciever! We would love to upgrade our current sound system that is just a sound bar so this would be a great start for us!! Thanks for the chance to win (:
the Sony turntable is what I really need, but both prizes would be wonderful to win
