Arlo offers some of the best smart security solutions available for home and business owners today. Their smart cameras are ideal for many situations given that they can be installed almost anywhere you have a Wi-Fi signal. And their cameras are build to withstand the weather and last a very long time. Read on to learn some of the reasons I use Arlo and which of their newest ones I’d choose for my home. Then enter for a chance to win either an Arlo Ultra 2 camera bundle or an Arlo Pro 4 camera bundle for your home.
Why choose Arlo security cameras
I have written many times on the blog about the benefits of each type of smart home camera. There are ones that must be plugged in to an electrical outlet and ones that connect to a DVR, some that store video on a SD card, and others that store video and images in the cloud. Each has its benefits and serves different security needs and use cases. Arlo has created great cameras for people looking for a wireless solution that can be placed anywhere with a Wi-Fi signal and who want access to live or stored video via cloud storage.
On my property I have many brands of cameras including Arlo. The Arlo cameras are used for sections of my property furthest from my home. I mount them on a tree to monitor a section of my property hundreds of feet from my router. And I can move them anytime I want very easily. Importantly, I can access the live feed from the camera, or stored images triggered by the motion detector, from anywhere in the world. So, I choose Arlo camera for their convenience, their versatility, and their dependability. Lastly, I didn’t know this when I bought them but these are tough, durable cameras that have been knocked off trees by wildlife, fallen in the mud, and have been pelted on continuously for days (I live in the Gulf Islands of BC and we get a lot of rain) and they continue to function as well as when I bought them about four years ago.
Which Arlo is right for your home or business
On the Best Buy blog we have reviewed many Arlo cameras over the years. Recently we received the new Essential, Ultra 2, and Pro 4 security bundle versions. Each of these comes with multiple cameras and you should really read the full reviews and watch the review videos to see how easy they are to set up and use. The main differences are in the resolution and viewing angle but here are some features to consider:
Ultra 2 | Pro 4 | Essential | |
Max Resolution | 4K | 2K | 1080p |
Max field of view | 180° | 160° | 130° |
Connect direct to Wi-Fi | No, needs Hub | Yes | Yes |
Motion detection | Dual sensors | Single sensor | Single sensor |
2-way noise cancellation | Wind, noise, and echo | Noise and echo | Noise and echo |
Lastly, these three new models also differ in price with the Ultra 2 > Pro 4 > Essential as you would expect. All of these are excellent cameras and you have a chance to win the Ultra 2 or Pro 4 models in this contest. We’ll do a contest later in the year to give away some of the Essential cameras.
One of the things I love about these new products is they come with multiple cameras. In fact, that’s one of the reason to get your Arlo cameras from Best Buy: you can save money buying cameras in bundles and these Arlo bundles are exclusive to Best Buy! As I said earlier, I have many cameras on my large property: more than a dozen. You want to ensure that entryways are covered, of course, but also access points where people could easily hop a fence or where animals might be likely to cause problems. Each prize we are giving away in this contest has three cameras. For many home owners that might be enough … for now.
How to enter
Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in two different ways.
- In a comment below this article, tell us which Arlo camera do you want for your home or business and how many cameras do you need.
- For up to two (2) additional entries, create a public post on a social media channel (one entry per channel!) telling your friends and followers that you are entering to win an Arlo smart camera from Best Buy; include the hashtag #BBYArloContest, so we can find your post, and include a picture of one of the prizes like that shown in this article. Then return here and tell us in a comment below, on which channel you posted it and the name of your channel (since many people use pseudonyms) so that we can check and verify your entry. You can use any social media channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc) but the post must be public so we can verify it is there. Add one comment below for each social media channel for up to 2 contest entries.
What you can win
At the end of this contest we will randomly select two winners from all eligible entries. One will receive a new Arlo Pro 4 Security bundle and one will receive a new Arlo Ultra 2 security bundle.
This contest runs from July 25th until August 11th.
Remember you can enter a maximum of 3 times as mentioned above. You likely know many people who would love to have one or more camera for their home. Tell them to enter too: if either of your win, split the prize to get a feel for how Arlo solutions can work for your home before you invest in a vast network of security cams like I have at my home.
