Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. my kids knew that our home was broken in before we rent it . they are not comfortable at all for renting this house, I’m sure that they will be happy and feeling more safe if we installed a camera to monitor our front and back yard entrance …

  2. I have had a couple of times when people have stolen gas from my vehicle. It would be nice to catch them in the act.

  3. I have had someone break into my truck when parked in my driveway. I am hoping a camera would prevent that happening again

  4. I would really like to monitor my classic car as i don’t have a garage. Too many sleepless nights. Thx for this chance.

  5. I would really like to monitor my front door & where my vehicle is parked since there’s been lots of thefts around our neighbourhood

  6. For my place it would be about the only entrance. For my parents place, it would be for the side entrance and garage

  7. My mom lives alone in an area that is not the best for safety. Would give me peace of mind knowing we can keep an eye on her property outside as she doesn’t have a computer or internet. I would also love this for myself at my business. It is in the same area that my mom lives in

  8. Lots of car breakins in the area so I’d focus on the driveway if parked outside, and the backyard/porch to watch for potential bike thieves!

  9. We have a bit of vehicle thefts happening in our subdivision currently, and RCMP have stepped up their surveillance, but its nice to have a camera to video instances to help RCMP

  10. The thieves in our area even stole our recycling bins, can you imagine! We are very concerned that it will escalate into our home! Would love to win a home security camera!

  11. I would love to win because my towns crime at a rate of 12,287 incidents per 100,000 population in Chilliwack in 2018. I’d feel much safer with a security camera.

  12. I am 70 years old. Last year my home was broken into and we lost family heirlooms. I have not felt safe since.

  13. When I am home alone I don’t sleep that well. This will provide peace of mind and a better rest. We also don’t have a way to see at the front door, who is there without actually opening the door. We have had theft from the driveway twice and the vandalism in our area has increased as the size of our little city has grown. There are a lot of good reasons to have a system to help with these concerns.

  14. I have kids and there are a lot of weirdos out there. I see online of these security videos and it really makes me wonder what goes on around my house when I’m not there or when we’re sleeping.

  15. I would like to monitor our back yard because we have had two separate incidents where someone has been on our back deck looking into our kitchen/family room area/.

  16. I’m concerned for my family’s safety
    * my car was broken into in my own driveway.
    *The neighbour threatened my husband.
A camera may help me know when it’s safe to open the door.

  17. Some neighbourhood animals are being nuisances, and keeping an eye on my backyard shed would be my top priorities.

  18. I would like to upgrade my security system to the defender and help deter thefts within my community, and helping the neighbours with their security concerns as well.

  19. The location I live in is right downtown area of Moncton, N.B. I had my window was open just in August and my beds beside it. All of sudden I hear a panting sound. Thankfully my boyfriend was here. I said “think someone outside my window”. He went around side of house and sure enough, cinder block+a book bag right underneath my window. My boyfriend moved the block away from window and brought bookbag inside. He did a few walks up down streets trying he could find him. No ID in it to identify this man. Next morning however the block was back up towards a window again. This time it was my 13 yr old sons window. I freaked, not enough to alarm my son. Phoned the police explained everything that happened. Of course he asked if seem him,did I have security videos on my property. He agreed this was serious matter, that they’d patrol around my neighborhood extra, try to see if anyone was at my windows. It’s definitely made me feel violated and unsafe in my own home. Not being able to protect my son was heartbreaking. I have gotten some measure of security in place. I need to catch this guy,I doubt I’m the only house he goes to.

    • Hi Jessica,

Wow that is terrible. I hope this person is caught soon. You are right that a security camera like the Defender cameras would help you to identify that person.

      good luck and stay safe
      Martin

  20. We had a break in and feel so violated and unsafe in my own home. This just may be the thing to give me a feeling of security. Thank you for the chance,
