I’m pretty sure we all have a favourite food that’s either comfort food for us or our go-to cheat meal if you follow a specific meal plan most days. For me that special treat is pizza. I love everything about it from the sauce to the toppings and most importantly, the cheese.

I eat a gluten free diet so for me I’m happiest making it at home because that way I get my favourite dough and I can add all my favourite toppings and as much cheese as I want. What makes the pizza perfect in my books is putting cheese right along the edges so it bubbles over and gets all brown and crispy.

I’m the only gluten free eater in my house, and that’s a little annoying because it sometimes feels like a lot of work to make a special pizza for me and regular pizza for the boys at home. This means pizza making takes a very long time, but I’ve found a great solution. The Cuisinart Steam & Convection Toaster Oven would really come in handy for my family and any family with pizza eaters, it’s the perfect size for pizzas for one.

Cuisinart Steam & Convection Toaster Oven

cuisinartToaster ovens are a great multi use appliance. They can toast, bake and broil and now with the new Cuisinart Steam & Convection Toaster Oven they can steam and poach as well. The steam function will cut your cooking time by 40% and allow you to cook without any added oils making for a healthier meal.

There are 9 pre-set single and combination functions and a specialized bread proofing and baking function. The steam also means your foods will retain more moisture which is perfect for baking in small batches.

To create the steam there’s a 47 oz water reservoir you will also use when you want to steam clean your convection toaster oven, and also included with the convection toaster is a wire rack, baking pan, broiling rack, crumb tray, and drip tray for minimal cleanup.

When I make pizza dough at home it has to be up to my boys standards, and that means it has to be soft, fluffy and not too thick. To get this I use a really fine flour, knead my dough until it’s smooth, and allow for enough time to rise.

My go-to recipe is this one from food.com. Once you’ve made the dough, simply add your favourite toppings and bake. I also like to cut the dough into quarters to make individual sized pizzas that my sons and hubby can top with their toppings of choice.
