With so much content available from such a variety of sources, more and more Canadians are looking at cutting their cable bills. One option to consider is taking advantage of TV stations that broadcast free over-the-air (OTA). I was able to test out the Homeworx HD Digital Converter Box combined with the Clearstream 4 Outdoor antenna and a Philips PVR and was surprised how many channels I was able to pick up in my little corner of the world. With this equipment it is a very economical and simple way to get a bunch of free OTA TV channels.

LG’s NEW LF Series for 2015 – Smaller sets for those...

I love it when new TVs come out as the technology just keeps improving. The value for the dollar keeps getting better, even if the new TVs aren’t a big step up in features and technology. LG just introduced a new line of TVs for 2015, the LF Series, that I had a chance to get a closer look at even though I wasn’t able to test them out. Two of them were 32” models and the other comes in a 43” and 49” sizes. LG’s LF series, at least so far, are smaller sets than I am used to seeing being introduced.

Various studies have shown how much time we watch TV, and it is more than I thought—about 4 ½ hours per day! North Americans are quite the couch potatoes (US and Canadian studies are similar). I will tell you the three things to consider in taking your TV experience to the next level.

LG brought 7 new 4K OLED TVs to CES, and not to be outdone Sony is bringing 10 new 4K TVs to the show. Sony has always been a big proponent of 4K Ultra- High Definition TV, and with a lot more 4K models they are making it their mainstream product. What is obvious out from CES is that Sony is taking a different approach than their competitors.

The NEW Roku Streaming Stick puts nearly all the capabilities of a regular Roku box into a stick that looks much like a USB flash drive. With this latest announcement they have brought down the price of streaming and made it even simpler as it just plugs into an HDMI input in the back of your TV.
