Thinkware dash cam contest at Best buyThinkware dash cams make driving safer for everyone. For most of us, driving is the riskiest thing we do every day. There are few things we can do to protect our loved ones who must take to the roads, for short or long drives, commuting, or even just shopping. Properly maintained vehicles is a basic necessity. Thinkware dash cams provide “next level” protection. Enter this contest and you might win either a Thinkware Q1000 or Thinkware X800 dash cam.

Should all cars come standard with a Thinkware dash cam

Seatbelts were legislated in Canada all the way back in the 1970s. Wearing a seatbelt is so commonplace, many of us can’t imagine driving without using one. Similarly, back up cameras are found in most vehicles now and not having one seems, well, just wrong. Both seatbelts and backup cameras met with resistance upon their introduction. Many people just didn’t want to put on a seatbelt. Similarly, some people felt that a back up camera was simply a crutch, ensuring that drivers didn’t learn proper technique when backing up. Yet here we are, in a better place with both technologies in use for the betterment of drivers everywhere. Driving is safer with seatbelt and backup camera tech.

I contend that dash cams are another tech that drivers and cars are safer with rather than without. And Thinkware dash cams come with a host of features to protect drivers and car owners. Once you have one, you don’t want to be without one again.

Thinkware dash cams do much more than just record the road ahead

In the movie “Next,” Nic Cage is able to protect people in danger with his gift to see a couple minutes into the future. A Thinkware dash cam is kind of doing that by capturing where your car will be in the near future. When things go wrong on the road, having that footage can make a huge difference in your life. It shows how other people reacted to a novel situation. Our memories are fallible; in moments of excitement our brains can mix up timelines, and even “remember” incorrectly. Dash cam evidence presented to the police or even to a judge (if a dispute gets that far) is indisputable.

There is a lot of information coming from a Thinkware dash cam and you can track it all in the app. This includes remote viewing of the cameras, GPS/speed detection, crash detection, impact detection while parked, and more. Imagine if your spouse is commuting to work … you can follow their progress and know if they get stopped for some reason. I was recently at a concert and my truck was broken into … I wish I had a dash cam to alert me!

  1. I don’t currently have one – feel the best features of dash cams is how long they record for and how detailed the footage is and for safety reasons – especially for theft or car damage.

  2. I’ve never had a dashcam but would love to have one to feel safer when on the road. The best feature is the clear picture and the handy app.

  3. I don’t have one but my wife and I have been meaning to get one! it’s great for safety and can help you in case of accident or theft. We’re definitely getting one with our new car!

  6. I don’t currently have a dashcam but it would be so extremely helpful for insurance purposes if I were to get in an accident.

  7. I don’t have a dash cam anymore, but I did for a while. Its a great feature when your living up north and everyone is a terrible driver. Caught more than a few accidents (of other people). Just never put my old one in my new car.

  8. I dont have one currently but being a firefighter, I see crashes all the time and Its always easiest when one vehicle has a dash cam because there is footage of what exactly happened

  9. No I currently do not have one, but I think it would be a great to improve the overall security of the vehicle.

  10. I have an old dashcam, but it doesn’t have high resolution, wifi, or a second channel. I believe all those features would be essential in anything new that I get now.

  11. My dash cam just stopped working and definitely need a replacement.

The dash cam gives a peace of mind when driving or parked. The parking Surveillance mode is an added bonus.
I especially like the GPS antenna information and pairing with a device to monitor your vehicle remotely.

  12. I’ll join the growing chorus of “I don’t have one” but would like one. Insurance companies give discounts for car alarms and winter tires, how about dash cams. Prove your claim with a few minutes of video. Features I like are multiple views and the recording must be of highest quality resolution.

  13. I don’t have a dash cam but I consider it another safety too for safe driving. I’d love to have one. Thanks

  14. I don’t have one, but I’d really like to. Motion detection and good resolution are essential features, in my opinion

  15. I don’t have a dash cam in my vehicle but there are several features that are really important. The most important is recording while driving which can be used as ireful evidence in the case of an accident. But remove viewing, crash detection, impact detection while parked, GPS/speed detection are all important features for monitoring your car for other reasons as well (theft, break in, hit while parked, etc.)

  16. I don’t have a dash cam, but I feel the most important feature is a clear recording, in both day and night!

  17. I don’t have a dash cam but would love one, seems almost mandatory now in the gta. Ability to sync to you phone easily and high resolution is also important

  18. The dashcam would give me more piece of mind when I think of security for my house, vehicle and family.
It would make it easier, should an insurance claim be necessary.
I had a cheap one that was never any good, but never replaced.

  19. I don’t have one, but like the idea of tracking info in an app and the recording should be clear and the dash cam should be easy to use

  20. I don’t have a dashcam but I really want one. An important feature would be being able to save incidents easily for use later.

  21. I don’t have a dash cam but would love to have one, Would feel safer. GPS and remote viewing are amazing features

  22. I do have a dash cam in my car, and I wouldn’t do without one. I find a long battery life and a clear picture are important, as well as an easily noticeable low battery indicator.

  23. I don’t have a dashcam yet. I believe the sharpness of the recording and battery life are the most important qualities in a dash cam.

  24. I had one some time ago, a cheap one. I believe a clear picture, night and day would be excellent feature.

  25. I don’t have a dash cam yet, but I’d like one, and I find the most important thing is good clarity of the lens. Gotta be able to read licence plates.

  26. I don’t have a dash cam but would love to have one. I would feel much safer in the vehicle with the Thinkware Q1000 as it records a wide-angle shot of the front and back of your vehicle, with night vision technology to enable nighttime footage. The built-in GPS tracks your speed and route, and the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections would let me pair to your smart phone to access additional features.

  27. I don’t currently have one – feel the best features of dash cams is how long they record for and how detailed the footage is and for safety reasons – especially for theft or car damage.
