What should you look for when buying a dash cam like the many offered by Nextbase? Perhaps you want some protection for you and your family while driving at the lowest price. What are you looking for in a dash cam?

I personally don’t own a dash cam. It’s not that I don’t care about the advantages they offer, I just haven’t got around to buying one yet. But if I was, I would want something in the middle of the Nextbase series: probably a 322GW or 422GW. Perhaps it’s that the review done by Dave Neufeld was extremely persuasive? Or somehow it resonated with me in a way the other Nextbase articles have not. After all, I think all the writers did a great job examining the different models and clearly explaining what they liked and did not like about each: pros and cons. I think what is more likely is that I just like the 422GW most because I feel it’s right for me in a way that I can’t quite explain.

Nextbase keeps raising the bar on what a dash cam can do

Not that I am averse to perfection. I have not seen the new model that was just announced today, the 622GW; nor have I sent it for review—Nextbase haven’t sent me samples yet. But judging from the specifications and features, it is a step above the rest. The features include an impressively clear 4K image at 30 fps, image stabilization, and Amazon Alexa built in. I love that if you are involved in an accident, this dash cam will register the most recent footage as high priority and not let it get recorded over.

  17. I like the 911 Emergency SOS! I am usually driving alone and my phone is tucked away so I will not get a distracted driving ticket. I don’t have OnStar or a similar service. The emergency 911 would be great!

The features that I absolutely need in a dash cam are Loop recording so that it records over the oldest videos, Auto Start so I don’t have to worry about not turning it on, and GPS so that I know exactly where the incident occurred. My favourite model is the Nextbase 422 GW because it does all that plus it has Emergency SOS and Alexa Integration.

  20. I would love the 552GW!! The features I live are loop video and if it knows an accident has happened it won’t record over that footage!! Great features!!

  32. Nextbase 522 seems fitting. Has many features i am looking for such as night vision, sos, motion or bump detection when parked. Juat seems like an all around good cam.

  33. I have a couple of favourite features, the night vision and emergency SOS response. We have two girls just learning to drive and this dash cam would help give us an extra sense of security.

  35. Night vision would be a big safety issue for me because ever since I had the laser done to my eyes my night vision is not as good.

  36. Night vision, G-sensor and intelligent parking mode are features I love and available on several models but I would go with the 522GW to get the larger 3″ HD IPS LED touchscreen.

  38. I absolutely need the emergency SOS response and Night Vision mode in a dash cam, and so my favourite is the Nextbase 422GW Dash Cam.

  39. Amazing upgrades! I have yet to find a dashcam with an algorithm specifically designed to provide a clearer image in the weather conditions we commonly find in Canada. Great job nextbase!

  40. I really like the Bluetooth’s Autosync feature because automatically transfers crash reports directly to the user’s phone. This is an awesome feature, hopefully protecting me

  42. I’ve never looked into dash cams and their options so reading the features is a bit mind blowing!
    We have 4 more years before kids start driving but the 322GW with Emergency SOS would be a feature I’d be interested in.

  44. Model 522 sounds like the perfect dash cam! One of my favourite features would be the Intelligent Parking Mode. Having motion sensors detect movements and bumps on your vehicle when left unattended is really helpful.

  46. I really like the the 622GW 4K dash cam for the highest level of clarity and detail, and also ultra clear 4K.

  47. Absolutely every feature of this dashcams kicks my current dashcams butt. I love that the 522GW emergency SOS response feature sends alerts to emergency services in the event of a crash. that I win.
