kitchenaid attachments for spring recipesSpring is, finally, on its way, and for a lot of us seeing that spring sunshine and enjoying warmer temperatures is a sign that it’s time to start eating a little healthier to fit into our summer clothes again.

Over the past few months I’ve been testing out all of the different KitchenAid attachments you can buy for your stand mixer, and some have been great for baking, others for making pasta, and quite a few struck me as the perfect KitchenAid attachments for spring recipes.

Here are a few of the KitchenAid attachments I tested and why I think they’re great for spring eating.

Make healthy salads with the KitchenAid Spiralizer Plus

KitchenAid Spiralizer PlusOne of the most fun KitchenAid attachments I’ve tried, the KitchenAid Spiralizer Plus makes creating salad, vegetables, and even fruit plates fun and easy. It peels, cores, and slices using two spiraling blades, two slicing blades, and 1 peeling blade.

I peeled an apple, cored it, and created spiral apple slices with the Spiralizer Plus, and I made ribbons out of carrots and zucchini. It really adds an extra touch to any salad, and you can use it to make sweet potato fries too.

Ice cream is easy with the KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker

KitchenAid ice cream makerI don’t normally associate ice cream with healthy spring eating, but when you want a treat, it’s far better to make it yourself and control the ingredients than it is to go out and buy a container.

When I reviewed the KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker I made a vanilla ice cream, but it’s also really easy to make gelato, yogurt, and sub out dairy for coconut milk or bananas. Because you can keep the bowl in your freezer for as long as you’d like, you can pull it out and have homemade, healthy ice cream anytime this spring and summer.

Make the best burgers with the KitchenAid Food Grinder

kitchenaid food grinderWith spring comes BBQ season, and when you’re BBQing you’re making hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, and steak. The minute I tried the KitchenAid Food Grinder I knew that this was the perfect tool for BBQing, and I’d even say that it would be a great Father’s Day gift for a BBQ fan.

The KitchenAid Food Grinder takes steak, chicken, and makes it into ground meat. The main reason why I am such a fan of this attachment is because it grinds any extra ingredients you want to use straight into the meat. I added garlic, onions, salt, pepper, a few other spices, and cheese straight into the meat, BBQd on my indoor grill, and it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten.

There’s something amazing about grinding your own meat this way, and if you wanted to get really adventurous you could make your own sausage this way too.

These are just three of the KitchenAid attachments I reviewed over the past few months, but they are three that I know I would use a few times a week in the warmer months. If you’ve got a KitchenAid stand mixer you should check them out. They will really help you expand your creativity when cooking inside or out this summer.

  1. Shelly, have you come across a KitchenAid attachment that works well for grating? I make big batches of carrot muffins for my son’s lunches, and sometimes carrot cake. And the most labour-intensive part of the process is the grating of the carrots! Wondering if KitchenAid has an attachment that would quicken up that process.

I want to give the ice cream maker a try!
