Remote controlled planes and helicopters have been around for many years but they never caused the frenzy that we have seen with drones. They have invaded our psyche and become a part of our culture. This is the year that drones have emerged as a cultural phenomenon. I am currently reading Dickens’ Bleak House, an amazing story that includes many references to 19th century culture. For example, on page 344 Dickens includes in his descriptions of the Smallweed family, a family that is basically born adult, presumably skipping childhood and childish things, numerous childish games and toys that were popular in his day:

“… her twin brother couldn’t wind up a top for his life. He knows no more of Jack the Giant Killer or of Sinbad the Sailor than he knows of the people in the stars. He could as soon play at leap-frog or at cricket as change into a cricket or a frog himself.”

  1. DJI MAVIC in my opinion is the best one. It looks very fancy and the fact that it’s light weight and can travel far is bonus for me

  4. Having a 1 year old son means having to walk around with a stroller all the time. Add to that a diaper bag as well. The Mavic being lightweight and foldable is perfect to not add more bulk to an already juggling mother when it’s time to head out and play.

  8. So many good features. Since it would be used by my son, I’d have to say the fact that its easy to use would be the selling point for me. All the other features are bonuses

  10. Front obstacle avoidance cool feature for me, and the follow me feature, great for when I’m kayaking, mountain biking or playing paintball.

  29. The DJI Phantom 4 is really cool with it’s 4K visual tracking and it’s ability to travel up to 72km/h. 120 Frames per second is pretty cool too one of the best within its class.

  34. One of the best features has to be the folding capability. It will help a lot in travelling and other places where size could be an issue.

  35. The DJI Phantom 4 visual tracking feature. The visual tracking feature has an active tracking mode which means you can get the drone to follow you, and the obstacle sensor helps in keeping it from crashing into things. The DJI Phantom 4 is an upgrade from the DJI 3 Pro. This is an awesome drone for videographers that cannot afford the more expensive professional models. The aerial shots that could be taken of some of Canada’s National Parks to celebrate its 150th BDay would be awesome! Thank you for this giveaway opportunity!

  36. My favorite feature of the drones is that the phantom 4 and mavic have the ability to film in 4k. However, I have never actually seen one in person I would love to win one of these because I know I would never be able to afford one. I find it amazing how they can travel up to 72km/h and still have a front avoidance system.

  38. These drones are very impressive. I like how you can fly for 25 minutes, while streaming video back to you and filming at 4k at the same time. Very cool!

  39. I had been looking at purchasing the Yuneec. for quite some time now. I honestly thought i would never purchase a DJI as i have always loved the Yuneec. But now i have seen the Mavik i am really really impressed. Love the “Obstacle avoidance sensing system, which i know the Latest Yuneec has, I wish it had it both Front and Back “Obstacle avoidance sensing system, but i am guessing in the near Future they will. The Fact that the Mavic folds down to such a small size LIGHT WEIGHT and is easy to travel with is awesome .When i first saw this online i was concerned how it would handle in winds. But from what i have seen to date both the compact size and weight does not effect the excellent performance of this particular drone….I could go on and on about the Mavic & i mean i really could go on lol being i have probably watched about a 100 videos on this one drone…..lol….I honestly never thought i would be converted from the Yuneec, but after seeing the DJI Mavic. You have converted this Grandma 😉
    ..My grandchildren and i are going to have so much fun with this Drone.

  41. Best features I like is the tapfly and obstacle avoidance for the simple reasons that these feature will keep everybody safe and help you build your confidence as you fly.
