Let me just start by saying that I can’t sing. At. All.

My family has asked me to stop on numerous occasions when I’ve been belting out the soundtrack from Frozen, but sometimes you just can’t help it. You have to sing along with Elsa.

Now that I have the KOHLER Moxie Showerhead and Wireless Speaker hooked up in my bathroom, I have a place to belt out the showtunes or turn up the morning music. Although anyone who has hearing and is within 20 feet of my house during shower time may not be so happy I’ve installed it, I think this just might be one of the coolest home tech devices I’ve ever tried.

The KOHLER Moxie Showerhead and Wireless Speaker is one of those devices that sort of blows your mind when you first see it, and when I shared pics of it on Instagram and Facebook, everyone who saw it has said has said, “I want one!” I’m not surprised, because it is that cool, and as far as sound quality, I can honestly say this is definitely not your Grandma’s 1980 style FM shower radio.

Once you pair it with your Bluetooth device, it plays all of your favourite music. The sound? Crystal Clear, even when you turn it up to drown yourself out. The spray from the shower is pretty darn great too.

Here’s a look at the features on the KOHLER Moxie Showerhead and Wireless Speaker:

  • Streams your music including personal playlists, radio apps like Pandora or Spotify, and anything else you want to listen to through the wireless speaker on your showerhead
  • Syncs with any and all Bluetooth-enabled devices within 32 feet of the shower. That means you can use your laptop, smartphone, tablet, or MP3 player
  • Brilliant sound – if you’re a sound buff, the speaker has 1.5 watts at 1kHz with less than 1 percent distortion
  • The showerhead has 60 nozzles to deliver a very nice spray
  • 2.5 gallons per minute flow rate
  • Easy to clean
  • Comes with a USB cable for charging and plugs right into a standard Apple or Android charger

Anyone can sound great in the shower if you have the Moxie

I can’t say I’ve ever thought about having streaming music in the shower, but you can’t deny that for most of us, music is one of the steps (the other being coffee) that gets us up and rolling in the morning. Now that I’ve installed the KOHLER Moxie Showerhead, I can’t imagine life without shower music.

You can stream your music playlists, radio, audiobooks, or anything you want to listen to via your smartphone, laptop, or tablet as long as they aren’t further than 32 feet away. Sometimes I’ve found with Bluetooth devices that you’ll notice a pause in the music if you move too far out, but I put my laptop in the adjoining bedroom, shut the door while showering, and still had glitch free music. Keeping within 30 feet, I also tried it with my smartphone in another room and it streamed perfectly.

Although it’s pretty cool to have a wireless speaker in the shower, it’s even better to have a wireless speaker that sounds great. The KOHLER Moxie Showerhead is designed to have total harmonic distortion, as defined for those of us not up on the intricacies of speakers, as something that’s able to reproduce a ‘more accurate reproduction’ of the original recording by ‘reducing harmonics added by electronics and media.”

If that doesn’t make any sense to you, let me just confirm that it all means nothing short of amazing sound. I’ve tried a lot of Bluetooth wireless speaker and this one ranks right up there. I played everything from the aforementioned Frozen soundtracks to Nirvana and it sounds great.

Soak up the spray

I love a good shower jet. When I stay in hotels the shower is one of the first things I check out, because for me a good strong shower is what opens my eyes when I’m groggy. Even without the wireless speaker, the KOHLER Moxie Showerhead has a brilliant spray. There are 60 nozzles on it and it feels like a warm, cozy shower of rain falling on you, but it’s still strong enough to get the soap out of your hair.

Delivering 2.5 gallons per minute flow rate, it’s at the standard limit for showerheads and comes in just above the ‘water efficient’ range of 2.0 gallons.

7 hours of pure showering glory

To use the KOHLER Moxie Showerhead and Wireless Speaker all you have to do is charge it via the handy USB cable that comes with it. Initially I let it charge for an hour then plugged it in, and it ran for everyone’s shower that morning.

It’s easy to synch with your Bluetooth device. Just push the button and wait for the Moxie to be discoverable on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Once it’s synched, put it in its spot on the showerhead and push the button on the front. You’ll be streaming crystal clear music and singing in the shower in no time.

KOHLER says the battery on the device should last for 7 hours of continuous use. I don’t think that means the battery lasts on standby, so I took it out after everyone was done showering for the day and plugged it back in so it was ready for the next day.

Quick and easy to clean

I respect my shower tile, and I think that’s why after 10 years of living in this house it looks just as good as the day it was installed. I also have a thing for shiny showerheads and taps, so I like it when they’re easy to clean and not all spotty. The KOHLER Moxie Showerhead is made of white silicon, so it’s easy to wipe down, and the polished chrome parts stay shiny even if you don’t wipe them on a regular basis.

The KOHLER Moxie Showerhead and Wireless Speaker definitely brings the cool factor to your shower. It’s one of those devices that’s everything you never knew you always wanted, and now that I have it installed I can’t quite imagine a life without it. There’s also an added bonus – because the speaker is attached by magnets, it’s very easy to pull in and out when you’re charging it or want wireless sound in some other part of your house.
