whats-new-at-best-buy-for-decemberIt’s official: the holidays are here! I consider December 1st to be the official kick off to the holiday season, and now that it’s official you can crank the Christmas tunes, enjoy that Chestnut Praline Latte, and wear your ugly Christmas sweater with pride.

Just in time for the kick off of the holiday season comes a ton of great new stuff to the shelves of Best Buy. Grab your shopping lists and take a peek at what’s in store for December.

Lego fantastic beasts packLEGO Dimensions Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Story Pack

Everyone has been waiting a long time for JK Rowling’s new story to hit the big screen, and on the heels of that theatre release comes a new dimension for the Lego Dimensions universe. The LEGO Dimensions Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Story Pack takes you into the movie using the LEGO Dimensions Toy Pad, and you’ll want to play for hours in your quest to stop Lord Vortech.

To play you’ll need the LEGO Dimensions starter pack, and the combo of the new story pack and the starter pack make a great Christmas gift. There’s also the add on Fun Pack with two extra pieces: Tina Goldstein and Swooping Evil.

DJI MAVIC Pro dronedj mavic drone

Drones are a hot holiday gift this year, and the DJI MAVIC Pro drone has hit the shelves just in time for the holidays. It has both Front Obstacle Avoidance and Active Tracking, plus there’s a 4K UHD camera that sits on a 3-axis gimbal to capture every second of your adventures in vivid 4K.

There’s a contest starting on Best Buy’s blog giving one of these great drones away, so keep your eye out for that.

Just in time for Christmas, the Parrot Hydrofoil New Z MiniDrone is new to Best Buy and is sure to be a holiday hit this year. You can fly it over water or hit the skies with this easy to fly minidrone, and you don’t have to worry about crashing because it has autopilot and can stabilize itself automatically. It has a built in camera too, so you can see what the view is like when cruising over the lake or as you soar above the trees.

MIPOW PlaybulbPLAYBULB Holiday Lights

Christmas lights that are controlled via your smartphone? I’ve been purposely waiting to stock up on Christmas lights until the MIPOW PLAYBULBs were available and they’re finally here.

The PLAYBULB 10m smart LED light string and the PLAYBULB 5m extension light string are rated for indoor and outdoor use. There are so many great features on these lights: they’re controlled via your Bluetooth-enabled phone or tablet, you can turn them off and on via your phone so you don’t need a timer or have to go outside and unplug them, and you have 16 million colour choices when you use them.

I tend to buy multi-colour bulbs and then wish I had just bought white, so how cool to know you can change your mind and have any colour you’d like. Erin just did a great review of the PLAYBULBs so take a look to get her perspective.

Asus Oculus Certified Gaming Desktop

Asus Oculus Certified Gaming Desktop

If you want to be the most popular person in the room this holiday, gift your favourite gamer the Asus Oculus Certified Gaming Desktop. This amazing computer meets all of the specifications for the Oculus Rift headset, and that means all you have to do is plug it in, set it up, and you have everything you need to game in virtual reality.

Powered the the ultra-speedy 6th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, this desktop features NVIDIA GeForce GTX graphics and 8 million customizable LED colour effects. For such a powerful computer you might expect it to run loudly, but it’s extra quiet at only 22dB when it’s idle.

Watch for a review on this computer, coming soon to the Best Buy blog.

A fitness tracker that you’ll want to wear on a big night out? I love my fitness tracker, but I definitely wouldn’t consider it as an accessory for a dress and heels. Thankfully a few amazing brands have dressed up fitness trackers and these gorgeous arm candy is now available for pre-order. Whether you wear them when you dress up or dress down, they’re so pretty you might forget they’re helping you get fit.
